Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software are computer-based analysis tools used for optimizing engineering tasks at every level of a product life cycle. A CAE software is utilized in many industry segments, such as aerospace and automotive segments, along with the traditional manufacturing segments. Further, they are being deployed by medical device manufacturers, consumer products, electronics, and process manufacturing industries. In addition, scientific researchers have also begun to adopt CAE solutions to complement their analytical and experimental approaches.
Previously, organizations were using CAE and CAD as two different functions, having different tool sets. As a result, moving data back and forth between these two systems was a difficult task. However, with the improvement in technology, software vendors have started offering CAE and CAD integration service; CAE programs are now able to work with CAD geometry. With the development of interactive link between CAE and CAD programs, any change in the geometry in one environment automatically gets updated in the other environment. This integration is resulting in reduced time for parametric analysis. Many Indian IT vendors (such as Wipro, Infosys and HCL) have started offering CAE and CAD integration service. After achieving success in the Business process and IT Outsourcing industry, the Indian IT companies are now aggressively pursuing deals in the lucrative Engineering Services Outsourcing industry. Today, many global organizations are outsourcing their engineering design work to established Indian players. For example, Infosys Technologies has worked on designing part of the Airbus A 380 wing along with Triumph Composite Systems. Apart from Airbus, Boeing has also been outsourcing design work to Infosys. This tech major also works with Spirit Aerospace, which was earlier a part of Boeing. Bangalore-based CADES has tied up with CeBeNetwork Holding, a strategic supplier for Airbus for offshore engineering services work. Similarly, HCL Technologies has a deal with Crane Aerospace & Electronics, under which HCL provides engineering services to support Crane's product lines in cabin, landing systems, sensing, and utility systems.
