About Transmission Electron Microscope Microscopes were invented to look at objects which could not be seen by naked human eye. It was claimed to be invented by Hans Lippershey, a German scientist, in the 1590s. The capacity of a microscope is limited by the wavelength of the light used to see the object. The human eye can see objects of size up to 0.2mm. Electron microscopes are broadly categorized as TEM and SEM.
